UAE based Methaq Takaful Insurance has connected its online platform with the Abu Dhabi E-Traffic services and Dubai's Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA).

Methaq said that the connectivity will offer direct contact with the traffic departments and instant updating of the customer’s data before issuing the insurance policy.

By the end of 2010, Methaq commenced utilizing the connectivity to electronically issue vehicle insurance policies and provide the relative data to traffic and licensing departments in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The move is in line with the Insurance Authority’s drive to launch an electronic link among all insurance companies in the UAE to establish a unified drivers’ database and to promote competitiveness among insurance companies, according to Methaq.

Methaq IT Manager Hamdan Al Kalbani said that a significant step towards a whole electronic shift, as it will allow an electronic input of the data needed for vehicles registration, renewal and insurance procedures in a paperless environment.

"Methaq has used the latest technologies and has recently updated its website and it is about to issue an advanced version of partners’ electronic gate to serve its partners of insurance brokers and banks. The new version is expected to be launched during the second quarter of 2011," Al Kalbani said.
