Marsh, a US-based insurance broker and risk adviser, has appointed Jim Beardsley as the new global head of the newly launched global rail practice.

In his new role, Mr Beardsley will be based in Marsh’s Baltimore office and will report to Joe McSweeny, president of US and Canada division at Marsh. He joins Marsh from Aon, where he led its rail practice. Prior to Aon, he held senior positions at Willis and Alexander & Alexander.

In addition, Jim Wolfarth has been appointed as the senior vice president of casualty and John Raymond as senior vice president of property of the new global rail practice. They will will be based in Marsh’s Baltimore and Philadelphia offices, respectively, and will be reporting to Mr Beardsley.

Mr Wolfarth joins Marsh’s global rail practice from Aon, where he was a client executive and senior casualty broker. He began his career at Willis, working as an account manager and casualty broker.

Mr Raymond joins the company from Willis Risk Solutions, where he was a senior vice president specializing in property. He also spent a decade at Aon as a senior property broker in its national rail practice.
