Marsh, an insurance broker and risk advisor and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has appointed David Batchelor as head of its International Division, effective immediately.

Batchelor, who will relocate to New York from London early next year, will remain CEO of Marsh’s EMEA region through 2011. He will report to Peter Zaffino, president and CEO of Marsh.

He began his career in 1976 with Bowring, which was acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies in 1980.

The division comprises all of Marsh’s operations outside North America including the Europe; Middle East, Africa (EMEA); Latin America and Caribbean; Asia; and Pacific regions.

Marsh is a member of Marsh & McLennan Companies, a global professional services firm with 52,000 employees worldwide and annual revenue exceeding $10bn, which is also the parent company of Guy Carpenter, the risk and reinsurance specialist; Mercer, the provider of HR and related financial advice and services; and Oliver Wyman, the management consultancy.
