UK-based insurance brokerage firm Lark (Group) has acquired Hinchely Wood-based HMT Insurance Brokers from its founder and proprietor, Howard Thompson, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquired company delivers insurance advice to businesses operating in post-conflict territories such as Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and other high security areas.

Lark chairman Graham Lark said that the acquisition will widen its range of capabilities, and is the first significant acquisition since the management buyout from Groupama in 2012.

The acquired company with its experienced team and resources will enable Lark to provide better services and sound advice to its global clients.

Launched in 1948, the company currently has placed more than £100m into the insurance market, on behalf of 30,000 clients.
