Lancashire Holdings, a provider of specialty insurance products through UK and Bermuda-based insurance subsidiaries, has appointed Alex Maloney as a new director of Lancashire.

In December 2005, Alex joined Lancashire as the group chief underwriting officer. Currently, he leads underwriting operations.

Lancashire has also appointed Elaine Whelan as new chief financial officer (CFO) of Lancashire, with effect from 1 January 2011 for the new fiscal year, subject to the approval.

Whelan will replace Neil McConachie as CFO. Neil became president of Lancashire in 2009 and will continue in that role. He will remain as CFO until Whelan’s formal appointment.

Lancashire CEO Richard Brindle said, Whelan will continue to report to McConachie, group president, and her appointment allows McConachie to concentrate more on his existing role as president, in particular the co-ordination of group-wide operations.
