The new product is available for boroughs, cities, counties, townships and villages’ law enforcement departments, providing services for populations of 100,000 or less, while larger venues can be submitted for underwriting review.

It has been designed for police departments, sheriff agencies, alcohol beverage control boards, college or university housing authorities and other law enforcement departments.

The product can be written on a non-admitted basis and includes bodily injury or property damage and personal injury.

In addition, the coverage includes operations associated with penal institutions or facilities.

Kinsale noted that it targets hard-to place or distressed accounts, which may include those with poor loss history or other risk characteristics that make an account difficult-to-place.

Based in Richmond of Virginia, Kinsale Insurance is the subsidiary of Kinsale Capital Group.

It is a domestic excess and surplus lines insurance company, which is specialised in hard-to-place property, casualty and specialty risks services.
