Johnson & Strachan, a full-service commercial, personal and employee benefits insurance agency, has promoted Charlie Venus to principal and vice president of operations.
Venus joined Johnson & Strachan in March 2008 from Travelers where he had been managing underwriting director for select accounts in the company’s Washington DC office.
He previously retired from The Hartford in 2006 following a 30-year career.
Johnson & Strachan executive vice president Bill Strachan said that Charlie will be a key leader in helping the firm achieve overall goals for growth and profit.
"Our goal is to double our revenue in the next five years and Charlie will be leading this effort with his skills in management and strategic planning," Strachan said.
Johnson & Strachan is an independent agency that serves the insurance needs of nearly 1,500 individuals and families and 1,400 business concerns in the metro area.
The company underwrites property and casualty policies for American Financial, Travelers Insurance, Progressive, Safeco, The St Paul Company, Zurich, The Hartford, Selective, and Insure Your World.
The agency underwrites life and health insurance for The Great West Life, Cigna, Unum Provident, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Aetna, Guardian, and United Healthcare.
