Mr. Raymond will also join Manulife's Global Asset Liability, Global Finance and Product Oversight Committees

John Hancock Financial has appointed Craig Raymond as the chief risk officer and chief actuary.

Craig Raymond will report to Jim Boyle, president of John Hancock Financial. He will serve as a member of the US Operations Management group. He will also join Manulife’s Global Asset Liability, Global Finance and Product Oversight Committees.

Mr. Boyle stated that the newly created position will span the entire organisation and Raymond will be supervising all risks including strategic, insurance, market and liquidity, credit and operational risks.

Mr. Raymond will be joining John Hancock from The Hartford Financial Services, where he was senior vice president, Enterprise Corporate Development, overseeing all merger and acquisition activity. Before that, he was The Hartford’s chief risk officer for four years. He had previously held the position of chief actuary of Hartford Life for ten years.

John Hancock Financial, a unit of Manulife Financial Corporation, provides life insurance, fixed and variable annuities, fixed products, mutual funds, 401(k) plans, and long-term care insurance through its insurance subsidiaries.
