John Hancock Life Insurance Company has announced that it is adding new benefits to its flagship long-term care insurance policy, Custom Care II Enhanced, to meet the needs of the present day long-term care insurance buyers.

The company said that it has added new consumer protection provisions to the policy, in an effort to give clients the reassurance they need at the time of purchase and claim. The new provisions include alternate services benefit; independent third-party review; timely payment of claims; lifestyle benefit changes; and contingent non-forfeiture.

The new policy is currently available in Alabama, Alaska, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Marianne Harrison, president of long-term care insurance at John Hancock, said: This new product offering increases the value to a policyholder by providing benefits that can be accessed at any time on behalf of parents and family members and is both affordable and relevant, especially in today’s inflationary environment. As well, our new consumer protection package will assure consumers that our promise to them is secure.
