Ironshore, a provider of broker-sourced specialty property and casualty insurance services, has expanded its political risk division for European platform in Dublin with the appointment of Donald Harkey as senior vice president to head the initiative.

Ironshore said that the expanded capabilities in Europe will offer political risk insurance lines and other trade-related insurance coverages to European markets.

Harkey joined Ironshore in March 2010 as senior vice president with Ironshore political risk. He has over 35 years experience in the international finance and trade credit sector.

He served as a director of sales and marketing for several banks with primary responsibilities in developing domestic and international lending platforms involving multinational companies and financial institutions located throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and sub-continent
regions.

In addition, Ironshore’s Pembroke Syndicate 4000 has entered into an underwriting relationship with Equinox Global, a managing general agent dedicated to providing trade credit insurance, to broaden its trade credit insurance market program.

Ironshore political risk president Daniel Sussman said the presence in Dublin will enable Ironshore Europe to provide capacity to European clients.

"Equinox Global’s innovative products provide enhanced clarity when anticipating turns in a credit cycle, offering greater transparency and certainty of cover to its clients," Sussman said.
