Ironshore, a Bermuda-based provider of broker-sourced specialty property and casualty insurance coverage, has appointed Daniel Owen as new senior vice president of its Global Property Builders Risk unit.

In his new role, Owen will be responsible for underwriting global property coverages for a range of complex civil and mechanical engineering risks.

Owen will report to Anthony Mammolite, global head, Worldwide Property for Ironshore, based in New York City.

Owen has 20 years of experience in the engineering and industrial risk insurance sector. He was most recently vice president of energy for more than four years, and vice president of construction for two years serving with Liberty International Underwriters, where he developed underwriting programs for specialty engineered risk.

He also held senior underwriting positions with Scor Re for the production of new facultative and primary insurance coverages.

Ironshore Builders Risk Property program underwrites the construction of civil engineering projects, such as roads, bridges, water treatment plants and buildings, as well as mechanical engineering projects for oil and petrochemical facilities, utilities and heavy manufacturing plants.

Mammolite said Owen is a seasoned insurance executive with in-depth knowledge of the risk and insurance coverage needs of specialty commercial construction and engineering facilities.

"He will lead Ironshore’s growing team of production specialists dedicated to meeting the heightened global demand of heavy construction building projects," Mammolite said.
