InterContinental Insurance Brokers and SafeHarbor Consulting & Risk Management have formed a multi-disciplined national insurance brokerage platform to provide a full range of insurance advisory services to businesses and private clients.

The new company will serve two broad practice areas: property & casualty; and employee & executive benefits.

The property & casualty practice will operate under the brand name, InterContinental Insurance Solutions, led by Thomas Sleeper, CEO and Thomas O’Neil, chief Operating Officer.

Similarly employee & executive benefits practice will continue to operate as SafeHarbor Consulting & Risk Management, led by Brent Finnegan, managing partner.

The new organization also received capital from private investors to be used for acquisitions.

In addition, the combined firm has added new senior leadership in the practice areas of Environmental Insurance and Financial Products.

O’Neil said the significant consolidation of brokers and consultants by large entities focused on quarterly earnings has left a void in the market for clients seeking tailored execution of services for their insurance needs.

"Our new organization fills that void by delivering on the brand promise to provide clients with a superior level of consulting and brokerage services extended in a personalized, private company manner,"O’Neil said.

Finnegan said the new company will be the premier alternative for independent brokerage firms and their owners who seek operational expertise, strong capital structure, and enhanced production capabilities, but are reluctant to join the national brokers to obtain these critical components and risk losing their identities.

The merger is being advised by Hales Capital Securities, an advisor to the insurance and insurance distribution sectors.
