UK insurance broker Bluefin has acquired West Yorkshire-based Northern Alliance Brokers for an undisclosed sum.

It marks Bluefin's sixth acquisition of this year.

A former member of Wills Network, Northern Alliance will complete its transition into the Bluefin group.

Bluefin is retaining all the employees of Northern Alliance Brokers.

The company's existing management team will continue to oversee the team adding to its existing presence in Yorkshire.

Bluefin CEO Robert Organ said: “We’re delighted to welcome Northern Alliance Brokers into the Bluefin group.  Its Wakefield location and the make up of it’s book, including a noteworthy specialism in renewable energy, makes Northern Alliance an ideal fit for Bluefin and our strategy of acquiring top performing, specialist businesses.”

Northern Alliance director Dan Maltby said: “It’s a pleasure to complete this deal to become part of Bluefin, a broker with significant reach and influence across the industry and a commitment to client service very much in line with our own. We look forward to growing as part of Bluefin using their significant experience in Yorkshire and nationwide.”

Earlier this month, Bluefin added Scotland-based E G Murray Insurance Services into its network as a partner broker.

In July, the insurance broker acquired Welsh-based broker Osbornes Insurance Oxford to expand its presence in the Oxford region.

Bluefin’s other four acquisitions this year include Exchange Insurance Services, Alverton Insurance Brokers, Wilbourn Insurance Services and Grampian Insurance.

Headquartered in London, Bluefin reported an increase in its turnover by 3% to £122m in its full year results for 2015, in comparison to the previous year.

In 2015, the company completed four acquisitions and added twelve new partner brokers while registering a net operating revenue of £100.6m.
