For all fully insured members including those who have a benefit plan

Humana has announced that the company will cover the administration cost of the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine for all fully insured members including those members who have a benefit plan that excludes immunisation coverage.

All co-payment, co-insurance and deductibles will be waived for the administration of the H1N1 vaccination regardless of the preventative-services benefit currently provided in these members’ plans.

Lisa Weaver, MD, vice president of clinical strategies for Humana segment, said: “The safety and well-being of our health plan members, country, communities and associates is of utmost concern to Humana. Our initial focus is to encourage the CDC-identified priority groups to get vaccinated.”

Humana intends to support its members’ ability to get the vaccination. The company will continue to monitor and respond to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
