US-based insurance brokerage firm Hub International has purchased Pittsburgh-based The HDH Group, allowing it to expand the operations in Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.

HDH is a full-service property and casualty, employee benefits and personal lines agency and brokerage that provides services in Pittsburgh, Erie and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The company also offers transportation, municipalities, healthcare, energy and construction, as well as alternative risk solutions.

HDH chairman Bryan Hondru, CEO Frank Mikan and executive vice-president Anthony Kocis will join Hub, while Kocis will serve as president to the new Hub regional operations and report to Hub International central region president Jack McGrath.

McGrath said: "HDH is one of the largest brokerages in western Pennsylvania and they represent tremendous opportunity for Hub to establish a new presence in the region and expand and grow into Pennsylvania and Ohio.

"I personally have a long history in Pittsburgh and am excited to see Hub enter into this marketplace with a well-established firm like HDH."

Hub offers property and casualty, life and health, employee benefits, investment and risk management products and services in North America.
