Pittsburgh-based health insurer, Highmark, has launched Healthcare Visa Gift Card, which can be used at health and wellness establishments where Visa debit cards are accepted.

The prepaid card can be used to pay for a variety of costs, including co-pays at doctors’ offices and pharmacies or for vision care, dental care, health club memberships and elective procedures.

The healthcare gift card can be used regardless of health insurance coverage and can provide consumers a secure, convenient alternative for handling health and wellness expenses. The card is issued by MetaBank pursuant to a license from Visa USA.

Kim Bellard, vice president of eMarketing at Highmark, said: By purchasing healthcare gift cards for their loved ones, consumers can avoid long lines, traffic and crowds. It also lets recipients know that you are thinking about them and their overall wellness, which is sometimes more valuable than many more typical gift ideas.
