The board of Hibernian Group, an Ireland-based financial services organization, has appointed David Simpson as its new chairman.

Mr Simpson succeeds Donal Byrne, whose term of office has now come to a conclusion following 10 years of valued service to the group. Mr Byrne continues as chairman of Norwich Union International.

Mr Simpson was a founding partner of Simpson Xavier in Ireland in 1982 and went on to become the managing partner. A former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, he has been senior independent director on the board of the Hibernian Group since October 2007.

Stuart Purdy, CEO of Hibernian Group, said: I am delighted that David has agreed to take on the role of chairman of Hibernian and under his leadership we look forward to his insight and financial skills bringing a considerable amount of benefit to us. His wealth of business experience will be a strong asset to Hibernian as the company meets future challenges.
