HealthAmerica, a Pennsylvania-based health insurer, has extended its multi-year contract with Jefferson Health System for its employer-provided and individual commercial products, as well as its CoventryCares managed Medicaid plan, effective 1 April 2011.

The extended contract will allow the members of HealthAmerica’s commercial plans and CoventryCares Medicaid enrollees continued access to Jefferson Health System’s facilities, physicians and ancillary services on an ‘in-network’ basis.

The institutions include Main Line Health, including Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Memorial Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center and Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital; Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, including Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, and Methodist Hospital; and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.

HealthAmerica’s Eastern Pennsylvania region vice president and executive director Howard Cutler said continuing the relationship with Jefferson Health System ensures that the customers and members continue to have access to a premier organization in the Philadelphia region for their health care needs.
