Guy Carpenter & Company, a provider of risk and reinsurance specialist and a member of Marsh & McLennan, has appointed a new dedicated facultative team in Iberia.

The Iberia team includes Alejandro Ramirez, Artur Castany as senior vice president, Antoni Gali as assistant vice president and Marta Mateos as vice president.

Ramirez will lead the team and will report to Artur Rene, CEO of Guy Carpenter Iberia. The team will be based in Madrid and Barcelona. The new group will focus on expanding facultative business in the region while serving existing clients.

Ramirez is an actuary with over 15 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. He will joins Guy Carpenter from Brex Re and previously worked at Guy Carpenter Iberia in the Treaty department.

Castany brings over 22 years of underwriting and insurance experience to the team and was most recently Technical Manager at Brex Re.

Gali is an industrial engineer with two years of reinsurance broking experience and Mateos has more than 17 years of reinsurance underwriting and broking experience and has been with Guy Carpenter for seven years.

Guy Carpenter & Company CEO- EMEA Operations Nick Frankland said Alejandro and his team represent a major investment in the region.

Guy Carpenter & Company head of GCFac International Massimo Reina said that this is an important development for GCFac as it not only represents a significant strengthening of capabilities in Iberia, but is also the first stage in the push to establish a Continental facultative platform.
