To give small business owners large company benefits
The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), the mutual life insurers and provider of employee benefits for small and mid-sized companies, has rolled out guaranteed issue on its disability income insurance products for small business owners.
The company said that employers with two to nine employees can select disability products on a guaranteed issue basis. Guaranteed issue coverage allows employees to receive a level of insurance protection without having to complete a medical exam or undergo medical underwriting.
The company claims that the value of income protection and its commitment to giving small business owners large company benefits at affordable prices as reasons for the new enhancements.
Clancy Merrill, executive director of small group sales and strategic alliances at Guardian, said: For smaller employers, providing life and disability coverage simply makes good business sense particularly at a time when many households dependent on two incomes have already been hit by job loss and economic decline.
“Employees have a heightened sense of the need for income protection and appreciate employers that offer disability and life insurance. Guardian offers a robust and affordable small group income protection package to level the playing field and help small business owners compete for talent with larger companies.”
