Claims to provide financial failure coverage as standard in all policies

Go Travel Insurance has said that the travelers who book their holidays independently are now automatically covered for the financial failure of the firms they book through when they buy travel insurance from Go.

According to Go, with the collapse of several airlines and tour operators over the past 12 months this will come as reassurance to people who want to book a holiday but are concerned about losing their money should their airline or hotel go bankrupt.

The purchases of a policy from the company will have their separate travel components covered in the event of financial failure. With an uncertain economic outlook still weighing heavy on our minds, it’s nice to know that, in terms of a holiday, we can leave any problems concerning financial security well and truly at home.

Andy Taylor, director of Go Travel Insurance, said: Holiday makers who book a package holiday through a travel agent or tour operator should have their holiday protected under the Air Travel Operators Licence scheme. But this protection doesn’t apply to the increasing number of travellers who prefer to book their holiday components separately such as flight, hotel, car hire and even theme park tickets – all of which are easy to arrange online.

Uncertainty in the market is leading many travellers to build their own holiday arrangements and they may have little or no protection in the event of a company failure. They will now automatically enjoy that extra protection when they buy a policy from Go Travel Insurance.
