Generali Versicherungen, a multi-line insurer, has said that it is planning to offer its customers two product lines in motor insurance: the basic cover and the comfort cover.
The company said that the basic cover is a favorably priced standardized motor insurance policy, which as an obligatory element includes the garage service called WerkstattservicePlus. This service means that after an accident within the German territory the car is picked up by a partner garage, repaired, cleaned and taken back to the customer free of charge. An A-category replacement car for the repair period is also included.
The comfort cover distinguishes itself by a variety of combination possibilities and vast extensions of benefits. Comfort customers may opt for a driverPlus cover to insure the driver, the accident assistant for personal support after an accident, a protection for their no-claims bonus or a special cover abroad, the company said.
Benefits are extended in the case of indemnifications for the new value of the car or for damage caused by natural perils.
In addition, under the comfort policy it is possible to include a Premium cover. It responds to market analyses indicating that motorist still see gaps in their own-damage cover and are willing to pay more for optimizing their insurance. This cover now integrates insurance against more perils than ever before, including tyre damage, damage after the impact of animals and even after an earthquake. In addition, the policy also provides cover against the consequential damage of marten bites up to E3,000.
Karl Pfister, member of board of management in charge of distribution at Generali Versicherungen, said: By taking into account the requirements of especially price-sensitive customers, the two-product strategy in motor insurance with its extensive improvements in the current motor tariff and especially with the Premium cover variance in own-damage insurance, which is by no means common practice in the market, has recognized the trend of our time and will continue to be among the successful motor insurers also in the future.
