Generali US Branch, the US arm of Italian insurer Assicurazioni Generali, has deployed Instec’s property and casualty (P&C) insurance rating and policy administration system, called Quicksolver Cloud.

The system, which runs on Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud platform, provides scalability, cost control, and speed of delivery to insurers in the commercial market, besides supporting client-specific policy processing and all major commercial lines of business.

Generali chief information officer Mauricio Caneda said that migrating to Instec’s cloud technology platform, and Windows Azure specifically, is a core tenet of the company’s strategic growth plan.

"We initially chose Quicksolver in large part due to its extensive bureau content capabilities, as well as the low total cost of ownership," Caneda added.

Commenting on the deployment, Instec product development and maintenance vice president Kevin Mason said the combination of Quicksolver and the Windows Azure cloud platform has enabled the firm to deliver an offering that emphasizes on its core value propositions of faster time to market, lower total cost of ownership, and reduced risk of implementation.
