General Re Life, the North American life and health reinsurance company of General Re, has appointed John Najarian as new vice president, risk management for the Group & Specialty Reinsurance division.
In this role, Najarian will be responsible for the leadership of the division’s underwriting and claim operations and will serve as chief underwriter, based in Gen Re’s South Portland, Maine office.
Prior to joining Gen Re, Najarian was a founding partner of Income & Benefit Solutions, an employee benefits brokerage and enrollment firm. His experience also includes a variety of leadership and technical roles at Unum.
The Group & Specialty Reinsurance division is responsible for disability, group life, medicare supplement and credit reinsurance, risk management and research.
Group & Specialty Reinsurance senior vice president Drew King said John brings to Gen Re broad expertise and nearly 30 years experience in the life, health, and disability marketplace.
"His diverse management background includes underwriting, claim management, product development, enrollment, and distribution, and we are excited to add his skills to our capabilities and bring his perspective to our reinsurance clients," King said.
