Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO), a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family, has enhanced its online services by allowing customers to get a quote and purchase a policy using their iPhone or Android mobile application.

According to GEICO, mobile users now have the ability to get a quote and purchase a policy using their iPhone or Android mobile application.

Through this service, customers can purchase a GEICO insurance policy using their mobile device, at the same time of buying a new or used vehicle.

Recent GEICO’s mobile offering include GloveBox apps for the iPhone and Android operating systems, allowing policyholders to pay auto insurance bills, view ID cards, review claims and policy information on select mobile devices.

GEICO assistant vice president for information technology Steve Smith said that technology is changing the way customers interact with businesses, and more customers are doing business online using their smartphones.

"As more customers come to GEICO.com via mobile device, we will continue to enhance their online experiences," Smith said.

GEICO handles auto insurance coverage for 10 million private passenger auto policies and insures more than 16 million vehicles.
