Friends Provident hires new head of public relations

Friends Provident, a provider of life and pensions, has appointed Peter Timberlake as its new head of public relations.

Mr Timberlake, who joins the Friends Provident communications team based in London and Salisbury, will be responsible for the external public relations (PR) of the organization including corporate PR, business-to-business PR, business-to-consumer PR and trade PR. He will also be actively involved in internal communications. He will report to Nick Boakes, director of communications.

Prior to joining Friends Provident, Mr Timberlake worked as head of media relations at Standard Life Assurance. He began his career at Legal & General where he held a range of senior roles with responsibility for external and internal communications.
