Insurance groups Allianz Insurance and Fortis Insurance are to pilot the InterResolve bodily injury claims scheme in the UK, Post Online has reported.

As part of the agreement, the insurers will use InterResolve to resolve new claims through its UK-wide claimant lawyer network, Law Alliance, which was established specifically for the scheme to provide legal advice and, if necessary, representation for claimants, Post Online revealed.

In addition, Post Online reported that certain legacy claims, where settlement has been delayed as a result of liability issues, will also be processed through the InterResolve bodily injury claims scheme (IR:BICS). For more complex claims, Law Alliance will provide independent legal advice with agreed price legal representation.

The scheme has received strong support from a range of insurers and self-insurers since its launch last year. Both Allianz and Fortis have now joined this growing panel of insurers and organizations that are already using the scheme to reduce settlement costs and time for personal injury, employers’ and public liability claims.

Cited in Post Online, Peter Ashdown-Barr, CEO of InterResolve, said: The InterResolve scheme has been developed to deliver tangible cost and time savings in the settlement of injury claims. We will be working closely with Allianz and Fortis to achieve these benefits for them.

Both insurers are key partners in the continuing development, not just in the processing of claims through the Scheme but also in our wider plans to launch an innovative consumer claim capture process later this year.
