Insurance provider Equity Group has partnered with Japanese auto giant Nissan Motor Limited for a three-year deal whereby the insurer will become Nissan's new motor insurance provider.

Under the terms of the deal, branded private car policies will be offered to buyers through Nissan’s national network of 215 dealerships. Equity will also underwrite Nissan’s ‘Free to Go’ product, a seven-day motor insurance initiative allowing car purchasers to drive their new vehicle away on the day of purchase.

The partnership is anticipated to bring in an additional 17,000 new policyholders for Equity and is in line with its current strategy to expand into the UK personal lines market.

Richard Clark, Nissan’s aftersales business development manager, said: The group provides the right solution at the right pricing level; its flexibility and market knowledge matches our expectations.

Equity Group has recently engaged in a number of affinity partnerships with high profile brands such as Chevrolet, Renault UK and Ryanair.
