The Enipower unit of Italian utility Eni has joined forces with UniCredit Banca to launch a new integrated photovoltaic energy offer. Enipower will give its consumers the opportunity to buy and install photovoltaic plants financed through loans provided by the Italian bank.

Enipower will supply and install the photovoltaic plants and will support customers obtaining the grants established by the decree issued on February 19, 2007 by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development together with the Italian Ministry of Environment.

UniCredit will offer loans covering up to 100% of the cost of the plant, which could be refunded in 20 years maximum through public grants. Meanwhile, Padana Assicurazioni and HDI will provide theft and fire insurances, and insurance to cover a break in power production.

Eni said that this agreement confirms its commitment to the development and dissemination of renewable energy sources by continuing to promote environmental sustainability in the energy sector. In its 2007 to 2010 strategic plan, Eni has devoted E350 million to investments in renewable energy projects, particularly in solar power production and biofuels.
