Endurance, a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, has appointed Gene Mason as new senior vice president and head of professional lines for their US wholesale insurance operations.

Mr Mason will be based in Endurance’s Stamford office and will be responsible for Endurance’s US middle market professional liability practice, which offers specialized miscellaneous E&O coverages for insurance agents and brokers, real estate services, consulting, technology and media clients as well as traditional classes.

Prior to this, Mr Mason was with Facultative Resources, a WR Berkley, where he built their professional liability facultative reinsurance operation with a focus on errors and omissions products.

William Jewett, president of Endurance Specialty Holdings, said: We are very much looking forward to adding Gene to our insurance team as this is an area where we are focused on further expanding our capabilities.

Gene has a broad range of experience serving the E&O market, bringing both an underwriting and broker perspective to accounts, and I’m confident that he will play a key role in servicing our current clients and further developing our business in this area.

John Zachry, president and head of US Insurance wholesale operations, said: Gene’s excellent reputation with brokers and his specialized expertise developing E&O products will be a great addition to Endurance. We are committed to being a preeminent carrier in this market and further maturing Endurance’s E&O capabilities under Gene’s leadership.
