Revenue totalled $35.1m for Q3 of 2009 compared to revenue of $28.5m for Q3 of 2008

eHealth, an online source of health insurance for individuals, families and small businesses, has announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009.

The revenue totalled $35.1m for the third quarter of 2009, a 23% increase compared to revenue of $28.5m for the third quarter of 2008. The revenue totalled $100.5m for the nine months ended September 30, 2009, a 22% increase compared to revenue of $82.3m for the nine months ended September 30, 2008.

The operating income increased 45% to $6.5m for the third quarter of 2009, compared to operating income of $4.5m for the third quarter of 2008. The operating income increased 21% to $19.0m for the nine months ended September 30, 2009, compared to operating income of $15.6m for the nine months ended September 30, 2008.

The pre-tax income for the third quarter of 2009 was $6.6m, a 22% increase compared to pre-tax income of $5.4m for the third quarter of 2008. The pre-tax income for the nine months ended September 30, 2009 was $19.8m, a 6% increase compared to pre-tax income of $18.7m for the nine months ended September 30, 2008.

The net income for the third quarter of 2009 was $3.5m, or $0.14 per diluted share. The net income for the third quarter of 2008 was $3.0m, or $0.12 per diluted share. The net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2009 was $10.6m, or $0.41 per diluted share, compared to net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2008 of $10.5m, or $0.40 per diluted share.
