Crawford & Company, an independent provider of claims management solutions, has launched a new self-service application for mobile devices that can offer customers a better experience with post-lease vehicle inspections.

Developed for iPhone and iPad mobile devices, the application, called My VCI can be used by leasing companies to conduct vehicle inspections shortly before the leases expire.

The application may also prove to be useful for the fleet managers who need regular vehicles inspections and is expected to cost about 60 to 80% less than an in-person vehicle inspection.

Crawford Vehicle Services assistant vice president and director Blair Bennett said My VCI will provide a faster, better experience for the customer.

"They’ll be able to download the app and complete the inspection in 10 to 20 minutes, on their own time and without the need for a visit from an inspector," Bennett added.

According to Bennett, the company is also planning to release a browser-based version and applications for other digital devices along with one for commercial truck inspections.

My VCI represents the latest in a series of investments the company recently has made in its nationwide vehicle claims services, which include damage appraisals and condition inspections for a variety of vehicles, an extensive managed repair network and towing services.
