Crawford & Company, an independent provider of claims management solutions, has appointed Ricardo Ortega as country manager of its claim operations in Brazil.
In this role, Ortega will be responsible for overseeing all claim operations in Brazil, servicing client needs, developing new services and products and growing Crawford’s business in the region.
In particular, he will focus on the reinsurance market in Brazil, which is undergoing growth due to the opening of that market to private industry.
Ortega will be based in Sao Paulo, reporting to Mauricio Alonso, senior vice president and regional managing director for Latin America.
Most recently, Ortega was managing director of the Interbrok Group of insurance and reinsurance brokers in Brazil, where he was responsible for a large portfolio of clients.
Ortega also built relationships in the London market during a four-year assignment there to grow and enhance the Latin American wholesale portfolio of business for a major international broker.
Alonso said that Brazil is the largest insurance market in Latin America, with great potential for growth, and Crawford want to be able to continue to serve clients effectively and increase the business there.
"With his deep experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, we expect that Ricardo will be very effective in meeting those goals for Crawford,"Alonso said.
