CNO Financial Group, the holding company for a group of insurance companies operating throughout the US, has reported total revenues of $953.2m for the second quarter of 2010, a decrease of 13% compared to $1.09bn for the same quarter in 2009.

The company posted operating income of $44.9m for the quarter which is an increase of 10%, compared to $40.8m for the same period last year.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2010, the company posted net income of $33.1m, or $0.12 per share, compared to $27.6m, or $0.15 per share, for the same period last year.

Jim Prieur, CEO of CNO Financial Group, said: “Sales across all three of our segments continued to be strong during the second quarter. Earnings for the quarter also were strong, with net operating income of 16 cents per diluted share ahead of our expectations.”
