CNA Financial has appointed Kent Skidmore as vice president of its Birmingham branch, who will be responsible for establishing the new office; synchronizing its operations with the company's strategic goals, including local authority at the point of sale; and improving service to agents and brokers in this territory.

Mr Skidmore has more than 17 years of insurance industry experience, including his role as assistant vice president in CNA’s Atlanta branch, where he was responsible for field underwriting management, marketing and distribution for the specialty lines portfolio. Prior to joining CNA, he has held underwriting, sales and field management roles with AIG and Willis North America.

The Birmingham branch is scheduled to open in early spring. The new branch extends the geographic footprint and enable closer proximity to its agents, brokers and customers, the company said.

CNA is a commercial insurance writer and property and casualty company. Its insurance products include standard commercial lines, specialty lines, surety, marine and other property and casualty coverages. Its services include risk management, information services, underwriting, risk control and claims administration.
