Clark Thomson Insurance Brokers (CTIB) is set to acquire Scottish Commercial Business Unit of Willis, the principal UK regulated entity of Willis Group Holdings (WSH).

Willis noted that CTIB has agreed to join its Willis Commercial Network (WCN), with this deal.

Willis Commercial Network managing director Sara Fardon said: "It is with great pleasure that we welcome Clark Thomson Insurance Brokers into Willis Commercial Network. They join an active network in Scotland and we look forward to working closely with them."

Willis’ commercial business unit concentrates on small and medium sized enterprises (SME), and the newly expanded business will have eleven branches across the country, with around 200 staff.

Subject to satisfaction of certain conditions in the asset purchase agreement, the deal is expected to be completed in April of this year.

CTIB managing director Ben Bailey said: "The strength of our expanded business, allied to our client-focussed business model, will further enhance our commitment to clients and staff alike and having a new branch presence in Glasgow gives us a fantastic opportunity to grow further in Glasgow and right across Scotland’s Central Belt."

Willis divested its SME commercial account in England to network member Chesham Insurance in October 2013, while Allianz Business Services acquired Willis’s micro and SME business, Businesscare, and joined WCN, in December 2014.
