Cigna, a US-based health service company, and TTK Group, the Indian conglomerate, have signed a joint-venture deal to sell a range of health, wellness and insurance products across India.

Both firms have started seeking approval from India’s Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority and is planning to submit a comprehensive filing in 2012.

Full license to operate will not be expected until 2013 and the financial terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.

Cigna International president William Atwell said that with more than 80 years of customer experience, TTK brings a strong brand, local market knowledge and proven strategies for distribution. Also, the Cigna’s broad portfolio of products and expertise in direct marketing will help meet the needs of the Indian market in an entirely new way.

TTK chairman TT Jagannathan said that Cigna has proven capabilities to improve the health and wellness of consumers, and TTL will share with Cigna a deep commitment to serving the people of India.
