Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has launched a new service to help businesses mitigate the risk of a data breach and to respond quickly when one occurs.

In the event of data breach, the service can refer business managers to a specialist law firm, which can conduct a free 30-minute consultation to assess the situation and identify next steps to help minimize potential liabilities.

The service also provides businesses with an Incident Roadmap and a checklist of response activities and access to other cyber security risk management and breach recovery services.

The insurer said new service is available through its eRisk Hub, an internet site managed by NetDiligence, a cyber risk assessment and data breach services company.

The site also contains an array of recent articles, white papers and other risk management related information on cyber risk topics.

Chubb worldwide cyber security liability manager and senior vice president Tracey Vispoli said the number of data breaches, as well as the costs of complying with customer notification requirements in 46 states and restoring compromised systems, continues to increase steadily.
