Mr. Stratts will oversee the company's global energy casualty, global energy property, oil rig and global marine product lines

Chartis, a provider of property-casualty and general insurance, has appointed George Stratts as president and CEO of its Global Marine and Energy division.

George Stratts was previously executive VP of Lexington Insurance Company, a Chartis company, and senior executive for Lexington’s Property division. In his new role, he will oversee the global energy casualty, global energy property, oil rig and global marine product lines for Chartis. He will report to John Doyle, president and CEO of Chartis US, and Ralph Mucerino, COO of Chartis International and Chairman of Chartis’ Global Marine and Energy division.

He will also serve as senior property executive of Chartis US, reporting to David Fields, senior VP and chief reinsurance officer of the company.

George Stratts joined Lexington in 1999 and has held underwriting positions of increasing responsibility, becoming SVP of Property for Lexington in 2003. In 2006, he became an EVP overseeing Lexington’s Property division. Previously, he worked as an underwriter for the Chubb Corporation.
