Burnham Benefits Insurance Services, employee benefits brokerages in Southern California, US, has selected Scott Aston as its newest vice president, with a strategy to expand its existing brokerage business.

In his new role, Aston will lead the firm’s new business products, business development, account retention, and technology platforms, according to Burnham.

The underwriter said that Aston’s experience of human resources information systems (HRIS), self-funded programs, and health care reform will be useful for the company.

Burnham Benefits Insurance Services president Kristen Allison said in addition to contributions to the company’s sales, Scott is also likely to focus on technology, communications, and employee wellness programs.

"California employers will benefit from his knowledge in those areas, coupled with his ability to understand both the brokerage and carrier perspectives — all of which make him a welcome addition to our team," Allison added.

Most recently, Aston worked as vice president of employee benefits for BB&T Insurance Services of California.

Burnham Benefits Insurance Services has achieved solid growth of 20% per annum for the past 10 years, and the company serves more than 300 corporate clients throughout the US and manages over $500m in premiums.
