Brown & Brown has reported that its total revenue for the second quarter of 2012 stood at $290m up by 18% from the revenue of $246m earned during the same quarter period last year.

Net income for the second quarter of current fiscal was $42m, or $0.29 per share, with a growth of 11.5% against $37m, or $0.26 per share during the corresponding period in 2011.

The company reported that its total revenue for the six months ended 30 June 2012 was $593m, up by 16.6% against total revenue of $509m, for the same period of 2011.

For the first six month ended on 30 June 2012, the net income increased by 10.5% to $91m, or $0.63 per share, versus $83m, or $0.57 per share for the same period of a year ago.

Brown & Brown president and chief executive officer Powell Brown said, "We are pleased with our continued incremental revenue growth and the fact that each of our four business divisions reported positive organic growth in the second quarter of 2012."

The firm, through its subsidiaries, provides an optimum suite of insurance and reinsurance products and services, including risk management, third party administration, and other services.
