Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ), a health insurance company, has appointed Marcus Montoya as new vice president, network management.

In his new role, Montoya will be responsible for maintaining BCBSAZ’s standard of service to contracted providers, negotiating agreements with physicians and hospitals, and working to ensure that BCBSAZ is a partner with the provider community.

As part of his duties, Montoya will also ensure that BCBSAZ has sound strategies for network management.

Montoya has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry. He most recently worked as vice president, government programs, for UnitedHealthcare, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, where he was responsible for strategic aspects of medicaid network development and contracting for the western region.

BCBSAZ senior vice president Dick Hannon said his experience and knowledge will be instrumental as it navigates the changes coming to the health care industry.
