Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ), a health insurance company, has appointed Tina Trout as director of quality improvement, accreditation and program development.

In her new role at BCBSAZ, Trout will be responsible for URAC Accreditation, HEDIS and will be a resource for organization-wide quality improvement activities.

She has experience in health care and quality assurance, having worked both as a nurse and in management roles at various health care providers.

Trout began her career as a nurse, and later moved into management and quality assurance. She has worked extensively with AHCCCS and was most recently responsible for quality management and infection control at a Banner Healthcare facility.

For the past four years, she has overseen regulatory compliance, patient safety, data collection, performance improvement and infection control at a 176-bed medical center.

BCBSAZ chief medical officer Vishu Jhaveri said Trout’s keen ability to strategize and use data to improve programs and outcomes will be invaluable to the team.
