Budget Insurance has launched a new product, targeting the need for short-term motor insurance.

Customers looking for temporary cover for up to 28 days can purchase policies by telephone or via links from Budget’s car and van insurance websites. The new products have been launched in partnership with specialist intermediary, Temporary Cover. There is significant demand for short-term insurance, yet limited availability of this kind of policy.

Matthew Gledhill, managing director of Budge Insurance, said: Part of the reason behind the BGL Group’s rapid growth and ongoing success is our ability to move fast and target new niche markets in personal lines insurance. This is one such move – we believe there is a real opportunity in temporary cover. Many of us at various times have cause to seek a short term policy, whether borrowing a friend’s van to move house, or lending a car to visitors from overseas. But people don’t always know where to find the appropriate cover, or a competitive price. Budget aims to make this process simple and effective.
