Baloise Group, a switzerland-based provider of insurance and pension solutions, has appointed Darko Cesar as new CEO of its Croatian Baloise unit Basler osiguranje Zagreb. His appointment will be effective during the second half of 2010. Mr Cesar replaces Martin Kampik, whose fixed-term assignment in Croatia has come to an end.

Mr Mr Cesar will drive forward the expansion of Basler osiguranje Zagreb based on the group’s defined growth strategy. However, the appointment of Mr Cesar as CEO is awaiting approval by the Croatian regulatory authority.

Mr Cesar has been a member of ‘Merkur osiguranje’ a private insurer in Croatia, since 1998 and was appointed as chairman of the board in 1999. He previously worked for ‘ODIS doo’, Zagreb as a consultant. Between 2006 and 2010, he was chairman of the Croatian association of Insurance.
