AXIS Global Accident & Health, a division of AXIS Capital, has added two senior executives to its international operation, based in London.
Rob Smart has been appointed as new senior vice president and international reinsurance manager, responsible for building the division’s reinsurance portfolio outside the US and Canada.
In this new position, Smart will report to international CEO, Paul Chapman, and will lead the expansion of the international accident & health reinsurance offering into new markets and distribution channels.
Smart brings nearly 20 years of insurance industry experience to the position, most recently serving at Catlin Underwriting Agencies where he was deputy head of the Specialty Business Group, which included accident & health.
The division has also enhanced its international insurance team with the appointment of Giles Berkshire as an assistant vice president and underwriter.
Berkshire will assist in the development of personal accident and business travel insurance products and the management of certain MGU relationships.
Giles will join the company from ACE European Group, where he was a senior accident and health underwriter, reporting to international insurance manager, Giles Allen.
