Bermuda-based specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance provider AXIS Capital Holdings has appointed David Smith as CEO and country manager of Australia Operations in a move to expand its services in Australia.
Smith will report to Mark Gregory, CEO international division of AXIS Insurance and will be based in Sydney.
Gregory said that Smith has 30 years of experience in financial services industry in Australia and New Zealand. Smith served as CEO at Zurich Financial Services Australia as well as IAG New Zealand respectively.
With shareholders’ equity $5.4bn as of 30 September 2011, AXIS Capital has locations in Bermuda, the US, Europe, Singapore, Canada and Australia.
