AXA Equitable Life Insurance has announced that Michael Arcaro has joined the company as vice president of external affairs. He will report to Chris Winans, senior vice president of external affairs.

Mr Arcaro will support Mr Winans in his role as chief spokesman for AXA Equitable. The newly established external affairs function is responsible for developing and executing programs to raise public awareness of AXA Equitable’s position in the life and retirement services industry. External affairs also advises AXA Equitable’s CEO, Christopher Condron, on matters regarding the company’s reputation and activities related to public policies that affect the entire industry.

Prior to joining AXA Equitable, Mr Arcaro was a director of media relations at American International Group, where his primary role was supporting communications efforts on behalf of AIG Retirement Services and AIG American General Life, as well as life insurance and retirement operations worldwide. Before joining AIG in 2006, he was director of global communications at Prudential Financial, where he worked in a number of communications roles during a tenure that spanned almost 10 years.

Mr Winans said: We are fortunate to attract a professional of Michael’s caliber and experience. His hands-on experience in financial services communications strategy includes a combined total of 12 years at American International Group and Prudential Financial, with an emphasis on annuities and retirement savings insurance products.
