AXA UK has combined its commercial and personal lines broker businesses under the leadership of Amanda Blanc.

The company said that the new combined business will focus on strengthening its capabilities and propositions in the intermediated market.

Blanc joined AXA in February 2011 as CEO of AXA Commercial Lines.

She has also been appointed to the insurer’s global P&C board which is responsible for setting the overall general insurance strategy.

AXA UK and Ireland CEO Paul Evans said, "Brokers are pivotal to the success of our business and bringing together the Commercial and Personal Lines businesses in this key channel will improve our broker proposition and support our ambitions for profitable growth."

As part of the changes, the company will form a new business unit to focus on distribution of personal products direct to consumers and through corporate partners.

AXA Ireland CEO John O’Neill will continue to oversee the new business until a new CEO is recruited.
