Aviva Australia has appointed David Metcalf as general manager finance - group, on a two-year secondment from the UK.

Currently director of group reporting production for Aviva group finance in London, Mr Metcalf’s newest appointment fills the vacancy created by Harry Efthimiou’s transfer to the mergers and acquisitions team at Aviva in the UK.

Before joining Aviva, the world’s sixth largest insurance group, Mr Metcalf was financial controller of Unum Provident, the world’s largest disability insurer. Prior to that, he worked for with Ernst & Young.

Mr Metcalf will assume his new role at Aviva’s Melbourne headquarters from mid July, reporting to CFO Craig Brackenrig.
